How to Calculate How Many Boxes You Actually Need
The Goldilocks Problem of Box Orders
Too few and you are scrambling for stock at the worst possible time. Too many and you have tied up cash in packaging that will not move for months. Getting the number right matters.
A Simple Formula to Estimate Box Quantities
Start with your average monthly dispatch volume. Multiply by the number of months you want to cover. Then add a 10 to 15 percent buffer for breakage or unexpected demand spikes.
Example: If you ship 300 orders per month and want 2 months of stock with a 10 percent buffer - that is 300 x 2 x 1.1 = 660 boxes.
