If August HubSpot updates was about connecting HubSpot to AI, September HubSpot updates is about polish and depth. The most visible change is the new HubSpot theme, now the default for everyone but the most powerful for teams already using AI is how much further the Claude connector now reaches into your CRM. Here's the full breakdown.
HubSpot's September 2026 updates are led by the new default theme, which replaced the classic theme for all customers on 31 August, a cleaner, lighter interface with no change to how HubSpot works. Alongside it: Claude Design → HubSpot landing pages, a major HubSpot Claude connector and MCP upgrade (create blog posts, custom objects, leads and more directly from Claude), Campaign Automation in Marketing Studio, an AEO estimated citation lift signal, Breeze-built payment links, richer team email signatures, and two new Customer Agent coaching types. This roundup explains what shipped, who each update is for, and what Australian teams should action first.
New theme is now the default (as of 31 Aug): cleaner typography, lighter feel, same navigation. Dark mode and theme selection are coming.
Claude Design → HubSpot: build landing pages in Claude Design and send them to HubSpot as a draft.
HubSpot Claude connector got much bigger: create/publish blog posts, full access to custom objects, leads, and activatable objects (appointments, orders, projects and more).
Marketing Studio campaign automation: build and connect multiple automations on one canvas, with A/B testing and quick metrics.
AEO now shows estimated citation lift: a projected impact score on each recommendation.
Plus: Breeze-built payment links, richer team email signatures, and two new Customer Agent coaching types (Action Gap and Conflicting Knowledge Sources).
HubSpot's New Theme Is Now the Default (Classic Theme Sunset)
What is the new HubSpot theme?
HubSpot's new theme became the default for all customers on 31 August, after a two-month opt-in period, retiring the classic theme. Nothing about how HubSpot works changes, it's purely a visual refresh. Even customers already on the new theme will notice tweaks to link styling, table headers and button colours, made in response to feedback.
Why it matters
This is the first step in a bigger HubSpot redesign fewer places to go, clearer next steps, and workspaces that work together. The update brings a lighter feel, cleaner typography and more intentional spacing, moving away from heavy headers so your content takes centre stage. It's being rolled out gradually so the full redesign feels familiar, not jarring, when it arrives.
How it works
The navigation and structure you know aren't changing, so there's nothing to relearn it's the same HubSpot, just cleaner and faster to work from. Coming next: theme selection, full accessibility, and dark mode.
Available for: all hubs and tiers.
Lupo's take: This affects every single user, so brief your team proactively a "heads up, HubSpot looks a little different, nothing's moved" note avoids the support questions. And keep an eye on dark mode; it's the change people will actually get excited about. Talk to Lupo Digital.
What is it?
Claude Design now connects directly to HubSpot. Build a landing page in Claude Design using your HubSpot context, then send it straight to HubSpot as a draft, ready to review and publish.
Why it matters
The gap between "designed" and "deployed" is where momentum dies marketers lose hours shuttling assets between tools and re-entering content that already lives in HubSpot. This closes the loop: Claude designs with your business context built in and delivers directly to where you publish, so you go from idea to launch-ready without leaving the conversation.
How it works
Open Claude Design, build your page (Claude references your HubSpot data as it designs), then Share → More formats and apps → Send next to HubSpot. It lands as a draft. Sending again before publishing updates the draft; after publishing it creates a new version. Use the Send button asking Claude to "update" in chat won't sync.
Available for: HubSpot users with the Claude connector and a Claude Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise plan.
Lupo's take: For landing-page-heavy campaigns, this is a real accelerator design with your CRM context and hand off to HubSpot in one move. Iterate in Claude before you publish to keep versions clean.
What is it?
Action Gap is a new coaching opportunity type that automatically analyses your conversations to identify actions your Customer Agent needs but doesn't have configured yet whether an action was never enabled, was built but not published, or doesn't exist yet.
Why it matters
Customer Agent can only resolve conversations when it has the right actions available. When one is missing, the agent can answer the question but can't complete the task leading to avoidable handoffs. Action Gap surfaces these so you know exactly where to improve your agent, rather than discovering the gaps by accident.
How it works
It works automatically in the background, reviewing conversations and grouping recommendations by gap type with supporting conversations as evidence. Go to Service > Customer Agent > Analyze > Coaching Opportunities, select the Action bar in the chart (or use the Type filter), review what action may be missing and how many conversations were affected, then decide whether to configure it. Mark it Closed once addressed, or Review later.
Available for: Professional and Enterprise across Service, Sales, Marketing, Content, Data and Smart CRM.
Lupo's take: This is how you make a Customer Agent genuinely better over time it tells you precisely which missing action is costing you resolutions, backed by real conversation evidence. Worth a weekly review.

This month's update to the HubSpot connector for Claude (and any app built on the HubSpot MCP server) delivers some of its most requested capabilities. You can now create blog posts in HubSpot directly from Claude (edit, publish, unpublish included), get read/write access to all your custom objects, work with activatable objects (appointments, projects, listings, services, courses, orders/carts), and get full read/write support for the Leads object.
Why it matters
For many teams, the most critical data lives in domain-specific custom objects and until now, none of that was reachable through Claude. Now:
How it works
Existing users must reconnect the connector to pick up the new scopes; new installs get most features automatically. Permissions mirror your existing HubSpot access exactly you can only reach through Claude what you can reach in HubSpot, and super admins control what's enabled. Apps built on the MCP server pick up the updates automatically (users just re-authenticate).
Available for: any HubSpot customer with the Claude connector.
Lupo's take: As an AI-first agency, this is the update we're most excited about. Custom-object access is the game-changer it means Claude can finally work with the data that's actually unique to your business, not just generic CRM records. Reconnect the connector so you don't miss the new scopes, and set permissions deliberately before a team-wide rollout.

Breeze Assistant can now create and manage Payment Links conversationally. Describe what you want - product, price, discount, billing schedule and Breeze drafts a ready-to-use link in seconds. It handles the full lifecycle too: clone, update, toggle discount codes, reroute confirmations, and activate, deactivate or delete links, all by asking.
Why it matters
Setting up payment links manually means clicking into the editor and filling out every field by hand, then digging back in for every change. Letting Breeze handle it from a prompt turns a multi-step, multi-screen task into a single conversational request helping sellers get paid faster.
How it works:
It's automatic for all customers with Payments access no setup. Open Breeze Assistant anywhere in HubSpot and describe what you need. (Currently credit cards and ACH; supports shipping/billing address collection, checkout fees, and stored payment methods.)
Available for: all hubs and tiers with Payments access.
Lupo's take: A neat time-saver for anyone collecting payments in HubSpot spin up and maintain links by asking, instead of clicking through the editor.
What is it?
You can now build and connect multiple marketing automations directly in Marketing Studio, on one canvas with new actions like A/B testing, "wait until" conditions, and sending to other automations, plus "Quick Metrics" for monitoring your funnel on-canvas.
Why it matters
Previously you had to rebuild Marketing Studio campaigns as separate workflows, which caused errors and slowed execution. Now you can plan and connect multiple automations in one view fewer handoffs, less complexity.
How it works:
In your campaign, click the Automate view, pick a trigger asset (form, ad, email, CTA, page), set enrolment filters, then add actions emails, WhatsApp, list changes, property edits, delays, A/B tests, branching, and more. After publishing, use Quick Metrics to see contacts moving through the funnel. Note: editing a campaign automation directly in Workflows is one-directional you won't be able to edit it in Marketing Studio afterward.
Available for: Marketing Hub Pro and Enterprise portals in the Marketing Studio beta.
Lupo's take: A genuine workflow simplifier for campaign-heavy teams one canvas beats juggling separate workflows. Just be careful with that one-directional edit warning before you touch it in Workflows.
What is it?
Each AEO recommendation in HubSpot now shows a projected citation lift estimate a concrete signal of how much a recommendation could improve your AI citation rate before you act on it.
Why it matters
AEO recommendations told you what to change, but not how much it matters. Estimated citation lift fixes that: you can rank recommendations by projected impact, focus effort where it'll move the needle most, and point to a concrete expected outcome when deciding what to tackle first tying content decisions directly back to AI visibility.
How it works:
Go to Marketing > AEO > Recommendations, open any active recommendation, and review the Estimated Citation Lift on the card. It's calculated from your current citation performance, the recommendation type, and historical data. Use it to sequence your work.
Available for: Marketing Hub Pro and Enterprise.
Lupo's take: This is squarely our specialism, and it's a smart addition AEO finally gets a prioritisation score. If you want help turning these lift estimates into a content plan that actually gets your brand cited in AI answers, that's exactly what we do.
What is it?
Conflicting Knowledge Sources is a coaching opportunity type that surfaces when two or more of your Customer Agent's knowledge sources contain contradictory information about the same topic. It sits alongside the other coaching signals knowledge gaps, help desk feedback, thumbs down, low CX score, and Action Gap.
Why it matters
When a customer asks a question and the agent pulls from two sources that say opposite things, it can produce inconsistent answers even if it picks the right one in the moment, the underlying data problem persists and keeps affecting other conversations. Conflicting sources are a silent quality issue: the agent isn't visibly failing, but it's working around bad data. This helps admins find and fix those sources before they erode customer trust.
How it Works
As the agent responds, it checks whether the sources it's pulling from agree. When two contradict each other on the same topic, the conflict is recorded and grouped by topic over time into a single opportunity. Go to Customer Agent > Analyze > Coaching Opportunities, click into the opportunity to see which sources conflict, the specific contradicting content, and why they conflict then update or remove the incorrect source.
Available for: Professional and Enterprise across Service, Content, Data, Marketing and Sales Hub.
Lupo's take: This one catches problems you'd otherwise never see the agent quietly working around bad data. Cleaning up conflicting sources is one of the highest-leverage things you can do for answer quality and customer trust.

HubSpot team email signatures are now more visible, more personal and more flexible across CRM, Inbox and Help Desk. You can preview your signature before sending, personalise it with richer details (profile picture, meeting links), and switch between your personal and team signature when sending.
Why it matters
Signatures used to be inconsistent and hard to control you couldn't always see what would send, team signatures felt impersonal, and there was no way to switch. That made outbound email feel unpredictable and made brand consistency harder for admins. These updates fix all three.
How it works
A team signature icon now appears in the composer before you send (hover to preview), so you always know what's going out. Admins can build richer signatures with personalisation tokens (profile picture, job title, phone, meeting link), and reps can switch between personal and team signatures in the composer.
Available for: all hubs and tiers.
Lupo's take: Small feature, real everyday impact. Consistent, personal signatures with a meeting link are an easy, free way to look sharper and book more meetings worth updating your team template this week.
